Decrease in kidney function, cognitive skills linked in study
Decline in verbal memory, abstract reasoning track with renal deterioration

Decreased kidney function is associated with decreased cognitive functioning in areas such as global cognitive ability, abstract reasoning, and verbal memory, says a study led by Philadelphia-based Temple University.

The university touted this as the first study describing change in multiple domains of cognitive functioning to determine which specific abilities are most affected in individuals with impaired renal function.
