Construction gaining momentum
Big projects in pipeline fuel optimism for steady industry improvement

Rockwood Retirement Communities, of Spokane, plans to start work this year on The Summit, a $51 million residential tower slated to be built at its South Hill campus. The 65-unit, high-rise building is expected to be completed in 2015.

Construction momentum is continuing to grow here following significant gains in total valuation of projects permitted here last year, some industry observers say.

Major projects under construction or planned for this year in the Spokane area exceed $625 million.
