Rudeen Development starts Coeur d'Alene apartment project

Rudeen Development's new construction project valued at $7.7 million

The city of Coeur d'Alene has issued building permits for a $7.7 million second phase of construction at an apartment complex north of Seltice Way, on the west edge of the city.

The project owner, Riverview Ventures II LLC, has started construction on six three-story apartment buildings, four of which will have 16 units, and the remaining two will have 12 units, says Kevin Rudeen, who heads the development company. The city also issued the developer permits for two planned duplex structures.

Rudeen also heads Rudeen Development LLC, the Liberty Lake-based contractor on both phases of the project.

Rudeen Development began work on the six-building, 109-unit initial phase in 2010 and completed it last year. He says the company expects to complete the second phase in August.

"I like the Coeur d'Alene market," says Rudeen, who declines to comment further about the project.

The project site is north of Seltice Way, about midway between Huetter and Atlas roads. Access to the complex will be via Idewild Loop, which connects to Seltice.

Rudeen Development will erect the planned structures just north of the initial phase of the complex, which is just south of Interstate 90, building permit information says.

Rudeen Development's website says the apartments will have one to three bedrooms.

As reported earlier in the Journal, the overall complex has an estimated construction value of $18 million.
