Bobby Enslow, Spokane barista and owner of Indaba Coffee at 1425 W. Broadway, plans to open a second outlet at 206 N. Howard, in the Bennett Block in downtown Spokane.
Enslow says the new coffee shop will occupy about 800 square feet of space near the northeast corner of Main Avenue and Howard Street.
He created an Indiegogo campaign in early February, to help cover some of the cost of new equipment for the new outlet and says he so far has raised nearly $4,700 of the company’s $30,000 goal.
“It is our plan to get the latest state-of-the art equipment to not only allow us to provide the best cup possible, but also provide the latest in barista training to our interns and staff,” he says of the Indiegogo campaign, which closes on March 15.
He says he hopes to open the new store by late April, before Bloomsday.
Indaba’s new location will be a “boutique retail outlet serving espresso and coffee drinks, with limited seating,” he says. “Mainly it will be a place for business professionals to grab a cup of coffee and something to eat, and go.”
Enslow opened the West Broadway store in 2009. He has 10 employees at the West Central neighborhood location as well as two interns, and he says he plans to hire one full-time worker and five to six part-time employees at the new shop.
Enslow started roasting Indaba coffee on site at the original location a little over a year ago. Today, he sells the coffee wholesale to Spokane coffee shops and ships it across the country as well.
