Argonne Montgomery Self Storage expands

Construction is under way on a $900,000 self-storage facility expansion project at 8915 E. Montgomery in Spokane Valley, says Matt Rounsley, general manager of Spokane Valley-based Brumback Construction Inc., the contractor on the project.
Argonne Montgomery Self Storage, a trade name for Argonne/Montgomery Storage LLC, already has 400 units and is in the process of building 132 more to keep up with demand and future growth, says Rounsley.
“Demand has been high. We’ve had greatly increased storage business for the last two years, so we run at about 95 percent occupancy,” he says.
The new units are being built at the former site of a recreational vehicle storage and car wash site the storage facility previously operated.
As part of the project, a one-story shop also will be built on site, but that structure is for Brumback Construction’s use and is unrelated to the ministorage facility.
Rolled Steel Products Inc., of Spokane, designed the project, and Brumback Construction is the contractor.
Existing units range from 25-square-foot spaces to 300-square-foot spaces, he says, and the new units will be a variety of 100-square-foot and larger spaces. Rates for units range from $63 to $215 a month depending on storage space size.
Rounsley says one reason demand has increased is because many people are moving to apartments.
“Just the apartment demand, a lot of it is fueling storage growth,” he says.
Not coincidentally Brumback Construction, a commercial and multifamily real estate developer, has some shared ownership with Argonne Montgomery Self Storage.
The facility offers household and automobile storage. Typical clients include college students, parents who are downsizing after their children move out, to anyone in between, he says.
Argonne Montgomery Self Storage opened in 1994. It operates 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.
