Brandywine Bar & Bottle Shop LLC is slated to open this fall at 2408 W. Northwest Blvd.

The business is co-owned by Caitlin Richardson and her husband, John McCormack, along with two other silent partners.

Richardson says the Brandywine Bar & Bottle Shop is leasing the 1,800-square-foot building, which was built in 1951, and was previously occupied by a gift shop called Casa Brazil.

“We’re working on permits right now, so we can start renovations soon,” she says. “We plan to make it a more open concept and updating it to include another bathroom and a small commercial kitchen.”

Richardson says Flaim Construction, of Nine Mile Falls, will be the contractor for the renovations.

She says the shop will be a bit of a different concept.

“Rather than gin, whiskey, or spirits, we want the cocktails to feature things like sherry, port, vermouth, or even beer,” she says. “We’ll also have small, shareable appetizers and desserts and board games or group games for customers to enjoy.”

Richardson says the shop also will offer classes, tastings, and occasional wine and beer dinner events.

“We hope to have everything done and ready for a mid-November opening,” she says. “We’ll probably need a few part-time employees, but it will mostly be a cozy hangout space.”

Richardson says she and her husband met as students at Whitworth University and decided to make their home here in Spokane.

“We live in the neighborhood, and just felt like it was missing something like this,” she says.
