For the Love of God Brewing LLC, a new Spokane brewery, is set to open next month in a former daycare space at 2617 W. Northwest Blvd.
The brewery’s owner Steve Moss says he’s a longtime beer lover who’s been home brewing for the past seven years.
“I thought it’d be a fun career and an interesting new endeavor,” he says. “The name kind of popped into my head and then I designed the logo and the idea took off from there.”
Moss says both the business name and its logo represent the idea of accepting God’s gifts with a thankful heart. The logo, which is inspired by Michelangelo’s “Creation of Adam,” depicts God’s hand holding hops and barley.
“It’s really about accepting the things God gives us with gratitude and using those gifts to make something we can use and enjoy,” he says.
Moss says Spokane-based Hug Construction was the contractor for the remodel of the 1,200-square-foot space, which will include a taproom, seating for 40 people, and a small production space.
“I work as a supervisor with Hug Construction, so we chose them as contractor, and I also did some of the work myself,” he says. “Our space has a shared common area with another space that’s yet to be leased.”
Moss says the brewery will offer a variety of beers and sours.
“We won’t have any set flagship beers, because we’re looking to do a lot of rotating and experimental stuff,” he says. “We plan to start with a lot of sours, hoppy beers, IPA’s, and stouts. We’ll also have a menu with appetizer items we make in house, things like artichoke dip with bread, a charcuterie board, and stuffed mushrooms.”
Moss says he and his wife, Dawn, will be the brewery’s only employees initially.
“If all goes well, next spring we hope to add a new patio space at the front of the building for more seating,” he says.
