Fred’s Appliance plans $13 million warehouse on West Plains

Work on $13M structure could start as early as fall

  • Print Article

Spokane-based Fred’s Appliance Inc. plans to build a $13 million, 100,000-square-foot warehouse near the city of Spokane’s western edge on the West Plains, says company owner John Amistoso.

Project architect Mercier Architecture & Planning, of Spokane Valley, submitted a pre-development application to the city on behalf of Granite Investments LLC to develop the warehouse. A general contractor wasn't listed on that document.

The warehouse will be built on a 8-acre site land at 8817 W. Granite, just east of Northwest Credit Farm Services, according to the application.

Amistoso says the warehouse will serve as a distribution center for Fred’s Appliance.

“We have literally used all of our current warehouse space and are in need of more,” Amistoso says. Fred’s Appliance has four other distribution sites in the Spokane area, Amistoso says.

The company operates five Inland Northwest stores: two on Spokane’s North Side, at 2525 N. Monroe and 3321 N. Division; two in Spokane Valley, at 10619 E. Sprague and 13820 E. Indiana; and one in Coeur d’ Alene, at 255 W. Appleway.

The locally owned and family-run business also has stores in Kennewick, Washington, and in four Montana cities: Billings, Bozeman, Kalispell, and Missoula, according to the company’s website.

Preliminary site plans for the warehouse show a recessed truck dock on the building’s west side with employee parking on its south side.

“It’s currently in the design phase right now, and we’re hoping for a permit to be issued sometime this month,” he says.

Amistoso says it will be a tilt-up structure “with a lot of concrete and steel.” He hopes to begin construction as soon as the fall and for it to be ready by spring.
