AdvantageSpokane.com seen as a recruiting tool

Greater Spokane Incorporated has updated its main website, at GreaterSpokane.org, and has launched AdvantageSpokane.com, a site aimed at companies that are interested in moving or expanding here, says Maria Vandervert, vice president of marketing and communications for GSI.

Of the updated GreaterSpokane.org website, Vandervert says, “The goal is to provide a cleaner and easier to use interface for our members and the business community.”

Site features include additional member visibility and access to membership benefits, access to a new small business program, industry work and community initiatives, engagement opportunities, committee involvement, a job board, and member deals, she says in an email.

GSI also has launched some new programs internally that haven’t been added to the site yet or that will be “bulked up,” says Vandervert.

One example is the organization’s RFP Central program, which connects businesses to needed products and services, she says. Through this program, GSI “helps get business proposals into the hands of a targeted list of vendors,” she says in an email.

The main GSI site focuses more on working with community partners, GSI’s economic development, and community and business community support, says Vandervert.

Meanwhile, the organization’s new AdvantageSpokane.com is “really focused on being able to provide those statistics and things that are needed for site location consultants or others that are really looking for cities to move to from across the nation,” she says.

The website offers a snapshot of the Spokane area, including pages devoted to major employers, infographics, demographics, and real estate.

“As a chamber of commerce and economic development organization, we are seen in some ways as the center of business for Spokane,” says Vandervert. “We want to have a stronger representation of the community and a more positive representation of what it means to live, work, and play in this community.”

The updated GreaterSpokane.org and new AdvantageSpokane.com website both launched in June.

Both sites were designed and programmed by Zipline Interactive, of Spokane.
