L-P mill site sells, to be the Point at Post Falls

Spokane’s Harry Green is part of group that’s bought 33-acre riverfront property

A group that includes Spokane developer Harry Greens company has bought the former Louisiana-Pacific Corp. mill site in Post Falls and plans a mixed-use project there called the Point at Post Falls.

The group, Point at Post Falls LLC, closed the deal for the 33-acre site on Monday and paid close to the $1.75 million asking price for the property, a source close to the negotiations says.

Green, of Spokane-based Harry A. Green & Associates Inc., says the Point at Post Falls will include housing, retail, and commercial space, but he declines to give any additional information.

Greens past projects in Spokane have focused on senior-housing projects, such as the Academy Retirement Community and Clare House; he also was involved in the construction of the Park Place Retirement Community.

In Montana, however, Greens company is working on its first non-retirement-related venture, a luxury condominium project at Flathead Lake called Bear Harbor. That project includes 58 condominium units ranging in price from about $180,000 to $250,000.

The L-P mill site has been for sale since 1997, although its price has dropped considerably from the initial asking price of $6.5 million. The Portland-based wood-products company closed its sawmill on that site in 1995.

The property has about 2,000 feet of frontage on the north bank of the Spokane River, west of Spokane Street, which is Post Falls main downtown thoroughfare. Part of the site also fronts on Spokane Street.
