CHAS leases lower South Hill space for new health clinic

Center to offer primary care, possibly specialty services

Community Health Association of Spokane (CHAS), the Spokane-based nonprofit provider of medical, dental, pharmacy, and behavioral health services, has leased almost 6,000 square feet of space in the South Perry District for a new clinic, says spokeswoman Kelley Halverson.

The space, located in a retail building at 817 S. Perry that also houses a Two Wheel Transit bicycle shop, is to be turned into a primary care clinic, although some specialty services also might be offered there, Halverson says.

She says there isn’t a timeline for the clinic opening at this time, but it probably will open in the first or second quarter of next ear.

The space will need remodeling, Halverson says, but the renovations haven’t been designed or contracted out yet.

CHAS, which launched in Spokane in 1994, provides health services to people regardless of their insurance status. It currently operates 10 facilities throughout the Inland Northwest, including four in Spokane, one in Spokane Valley, and one in Deer Park.

It currently serves about 52,000 people in Spokane County and the Lewis-Clark Valley, where it operates one medical and one dental clinic.

The organization doesn’t currently have a clinic on the South Hill. Its office nearest to the planned new location is its Denny Murphy Clinic, at 1001 W. Second downtown.

Spokane-based real estate firm Black Realty Management Inc. handled the lease.
