James W. Elmer Construction Co., of Spokane, is erecting a 5,600-square-foot veterinary building at 5150 W. Barnes Road for Indian Trail Animal Hospital PS.

Rob Brown and Keri Bayley, partners in Spokane veterinarian practice Indian Trail Animal Hospital PS, are developing a $1.2 million clinic and plan to move their practice there from smaller quarters.

Brown says foundation work for the new clinic is under way at 5150 W. Barnes Road, and the project is expected to be completed in late June or early July.

James W. Elmer Construction Co., of Spokane, is the contractor on the project, and Architectural Werks Inc., of Kirkland, Wash., designed it.

The single-story clinic building will have 5,600 square feet of floor space with six examination rooms, two surgery suites, and separate canine and feline waiting areas.

The project site is on 4 acres of land at the northeast corner of Indian Trail and Barnes roads.

The practice currently is located nearby in the Sundance Plaza shopping center, at 9027 N. Indian Trail, where it occupies 1,500 square feet of leased space.

Indian Trail Animal Clinic has four veterinarians and a support staff of 11 employees.

Brown says the practice likely will add one more veterinarian and four other employees after the move to the new clinic.
