Psychology practice buys building to handle growth

Office to ramp up to six providers, hire more staff

Northwest Neurobehavioral Institute PS, a Spokane counseling and therapy practice that specializes in assessing and treating cognitive functions, has bought a 9,300-square-foot building at 1303 N. Division, north of downtown, where it plans to move next month.

The practice currently is located in a smaller, leased space on the third floor of the Paulsen Center, at 421 W. Riverside downtown.

Marc Mowrer, Eric Nelson, and Chris Schreiber, all agents with Spokane-based commercial brokerage Kiemle & Hagood Co., handled the transaction. Spokane County Assessor’s records list the selling price at $820,000.

Clinical neuropsychologist Christine Guzzardo and clinical psychologist Jennifer Van Wey own the practice, which they founded in 2009 to treat patients with problems related to their emotions, brain, and behavior.

Guzzardo specializes in pediatric and adult neuropsychological assessment, and Van Wey focuses on geriatric psychology.

The practice recently hired a child psychologist and a behavioral psychologist to bring its total number of providers to six licensed psychologists, Guzzardo says. NNI also plans to hire two additional providers after the move, she says.

The practice has a support staff of two employees and plans to hire another support employee this month, she says.

Two current tenants, Service Alternatives Inc. and First Choice Loan Services, will continue to occupy leased space in the recently purchased building, Guzzardo says.
