Silvey Construction grows dental office development business
Company derives work through repeat business, word-of-mouth referrals

Spokane Valley-based Silvey Construction Inc. plans a big year of developments worth millions of dollars in Eastern Washington and North Idaho, says co-owner and vice president Jared Silvey.
Silvey declines to disclose the total construction value of its current developments but says the company has about 28 projects on the books for its current jobs list, he says. In the last 12 months, the 50-year-old company has been named on about 18 building permit applications, with construction valued at a total of $13.7 million in Spokane County and the cities of Spokane and Spokane Valley.
Many projects in the works are within the dental and medical office market specifically, which has been a niche business that’s grown mainly by word of mouth, Silvey says.
“All of our stuff is referral-based business, either through architects or word of mouth from other dentists,” he says.
Silvey Construction is wrapping up the construction of a 7,200-square-foot Children’s Choice Dental Clinic, located at 21901 E. Country Vista Drive, in Liberty Lake, which is expected to open in the middle of this month, he says.
The Children’s Choice dental building is part of an $8 million Liberty Lake commercial complex developed through Legacy Group Development LLC, of Spokane Valley, which Silvey, his father Mike Silvey, and other business partners operate.
Jared Silvey and his father also co-own Silvey Construction.
In addition to medical and dental developments, Silvey’s commercial construction includes multifamily, retail, and industrial projects.
For example, the company is seeking permit approval for two building pads on the north side of the Children’s Choice project site, where Silvey says he hopes to break ground next year.
One pad will host a 4,000-square-foot restaurant, and the other will have a retail store, Silvey says.
Two tenants Silvey declines to identify will occupy the sites and were secured with help from Steven Daines, of Spokane Based commercial real estate company Daines Capital LLC.
In North Idaho, Silvey Construction is working with Uptic Studios, of Spokane, as the design-build team for a $4 million, 20,000-square-foot multitenant office building on vacant land located at 1701 W. Prairie, in Hayden. The development will provide Class A professional offices ranging in size from 2,200 to 10,000 square feet.
Rob Kannapien and Craig Hunter, both of Coldwell Banker Commercial Schneidmiller Realty, are the leasing agents for the Hayden development, which will be open next year.
Additional Silvey projects include the upcoming $7 million, 48-unit Pines & 3rd Apartments, located at 205 S. Pines Road, in Spokane Valley, and the nearly completed $500,000 remodel of the Northwest Orthopedic Specialists Surgery Center, located at 12410 E. Sinto, in Spokane Valley.
Silvey says, “Our workload is busier than ever. In various phases or starting soon, we have five dental projects in the pipeline right now.”
Since the company doesn’t advertise, referrals from architects, residential and commercial clients, and partnerships with real estate professionals such as Daines help bring in new business leads, Silvey says.
Silvey Construction is based in 2,000 square feet of office space in a multitenant building at 10221 E. Montgomery Drive, in Spokane Valley.
The comapany has six full-time employees and currently is hiring for a project manager-estimator, and a finish carpenter.
Silvey says he plans to continue relying on business partnerships for future work, and he’s optimistic about business revenue.
He adds, “We can have work for the next 18 months if no other projects come in. Revenue this year is better than in 2021, and 2023 looks to be better than 2022.”
Leadership at Silvey Construction is transitioning gradually from father to son, but Silvey says he expects his father will continue working in some capacity for the business, either as a consultant or in business development.
Silvey says one thing he’s especially proud of is leaving a physical legacy of his work in the Spokane area.
“I can drive around and see things after almost 18 years now that I had a hand in building, and I enjoy being able to see what I’ve done in the community,” he says. “I like seeing something concrete that I had a hand in.”
