Owners of a Snap Fitness 24-hour fitness club in Spokane Valley are moving the gym roughly three miles southwest of its current location to a newly constructed site in the Ponderosa Village retail development at 11205 E. Dishman-Mica Road.

David Reardon, co-owner of the Snap Fitness club, says he expects the newly constructed fitness club will be ready for an early December opening.

“This (new) building serves a better purpose for what we want to do,” says Reardon.

The gym currently is located at 13514 E. 32nd, near the southeast corner of state Route 27 and 32nd Avenue.

“We moved into our current location around 2005. It’s a building that wasn’t built for a fitness gym. We retrofitted it as best we could,” he says. “This new building was specifically designed for the gym.”

Fitness programs there will focus on personal and small group training, as well as specialized and customized fitness and wellness programs, he says.

The new building will have just under 4,000 square feet of floor space, larger compared with the current 3,500-square foot space. ZCR Construction, of Colbert, is the general contractor on tenant improvements at the Dishman-Mica space.

Doughnut shop Hello Sugar LLC and salon The Mix Salon & Day Spa LLC were among the first tenants at Ponderosa Village. As the Journal previously reported, the complex is expected to have five distinct buildings when fully developed.

Reardon co-owns the business with Jake Smith. The two also own and operate a Snap Fitness gym in Medical Lake. General manager Meagan Turner oversees both operations.

“We’re adding new equipment and relocating, but it’s important we keep our community feel,” Turner says.

Smith says the trio also has plans to make upgrades at the Medical Lake facility in the coming months.

“Both facilities have a fantastic staff of personal trainers who are passionate about working with our members to achieve their fitness goals,” Smith says.

Snap Fitness is a Chanhassen, Minnesota-based franchise health and fitness operation. The company’s website shows a total of 10 Snap Fitness outlets in the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene area.
