Work starts on Elevate Academy in Post Falls
Charter school to open to students in fall 2022November 18th, 2021
Work has begun on Elevate Academy North, a planned, new charter school in Post Falls that will specialize in teaching technical skills to middle and high school students, in grades six through 12.
The city recently issued a building permit for construction of the school, which will be located at 3716-3718 E. Killdeer, in north Post Falls. The project is valued at $8 million.
Meridian, Idaho-based Engineered Structures Inc., which does business as ESI Construction, is the contractor on the project, and Erstad Architects PA, of Boise, Idaho, designed it.
Heidi Varney, a permit coordinator with the city of Post Falls, says the project is expected to be completed in time for the 2022-23 school year.
The project owner listed on permit records with the city of Post Falls is Building Hope Killdeer Ave LLC.
The school will have two buildings with a combined 36,000 square feet of floor space in two structures—a two-story Academy building and a one-story Technical Building.
The Academy Building will accommodate grades 6 through 11. It will be the main building of the project at 24,800 square feet, which includes the school’s cafeteria.
The Technical Building will be 14,500 square feet and will be dedicated to high school seniors, although the school will accommodate grades six through 10 initially and add grades 11 and 12, respectively in 2024 and 2025.
The learning space in the technical building will include a machine shop, a metals classroom, and a business classroom, the permit information shows.
As reported earlier in the Journal, the school will have a capacity of 310 students, and it will employ 20 to 24 certified teachers and 15 staff members.
The school will be a year-round career public school that will also serve at-risk youth and students with disabilities.
