Portland group eyes project at former Quality Inn
Remodel involves 153 rental units on south side of I-90November 17th, 2022
An Oregon-based company redeveloping a former Days Inn hotel into apartments in downtown Spokane plans a similar redevelopment project on the other side of Interstate 90.
According to a permit application filed with the city, Portland-based Fortify Holdings LLC plans to develop 153 small apartment units in the six-story building at 104 E. Fourth. The construction value for the project, dubbed The Olmsted Apartments, is $3 million.
The building previously was occupied by a Quality Inn hotel.
A representative of Fortify wasn’t available immediately for comment.
The permit application shows more than 44,000 square feet of the 54,000-square-foot building will be dedicated to apartments, each with a kitchenette. About 2,700 square feet is designated for business use, while 7,000 square feet is designated conference space.
The contractor on the project is listed as Richland-based Cliff Thorn Construction. The Olmsted Apartments are being designed by Gilliland & Associates Architect LLC, of Dillon, Montana. The application shows Kennewick-based MEIER Architecture & Engineering is the project’s civil engineer.
In a similar hotel-to-apartments project, Fortify is redeveloping the 15,400-square-foot former Days Inn motel at 120 W. Third into The Imperial apartments.
The company also was behind development of the GoGo West and GoGo Heights apartments, at 2808 S. Assembly Road and 7027 N. Colton, respectively.
Properties associated with Fortify are managed by Seattle-based real estate management company Avenue5 LLC.
