Second Liberty Apartments structure to be built

Hillyard neighborhood site will gain 24 units

Jordan Tampien, developer and owner of 4 Degrees Real Estate, of Spokane, says work has begun on the second phase of the $8 million Liberty Apartments project, in Spokane’s Hillyard neighborhood.

Tampien says footings and framing have gone up at the site. Phase 2 of the project is expected to be completed by October.

The $3.5 million second phase of the project, located at 3027 E. Liberty, will consist of a three-story building that will have 24 rental units with a total of 19,127 square feet of living space, bringing the total number of living spaces at Liberty Apartments to 48 units.

The new building will include 18 two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments, and six one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartments.

The contractor on Phase 2 of Liberty Apartments is Spokane Valley-based T.W. Clark Construction LLC. Evan Verduin, of Spokane-based Trek Architecture, designed the project. Both companies were involved in the first phase of the project, which was completed last year and is fully leased.

The building that previously occupied the site for the second phase was demolished earlier this year. It had been built in 1978, and most recently had housed the Barnwood Social restaurant.

Tampien and Spokane restaurateur Matt Goodwin bought the property for $522,500 in August 2019 through their company Liberty Project LLC, according to Spokane County Assessor’s records.
