DoctorsÂ’ group develops North Side clinic

New Spokane ENT satellite facility to be located on Nevada, cost about $2 million

February 26, 1997
Kim Crompton

Spokane Ear, Nose & Throat Clinic PS says it is developing a $2 million satellite facility on the citys North Side.

The single-story, 7,000-square-foot clinic will occupy a roughly 1-acre parcel at 9922 N. Nevada that the doctors group bought about a year and a half ago. The site is on the east side of Nevada, just north of a Twigs Bistro & Martini Bar and a Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest store.

Ramey Construction Co., of Spokane, began construction of the clinic Nov. 1, and expects to complete the project next summer. OMS Inc., of Spokane, designed the structure, which will have a brick faade and will look similar to Spokane ENTs 32,000-square-foot main facility, at 217 W. Cataldo.

The doctors group plans to move its North Side operation to the building on Nevada from 8,000 square feet of leased space at 5901 N. Mayfair, near Holy Family Hospital.

We plan to remain and grow at the north end with our practice, so it made sense to invest up there rather than just be a tenant, says Rod Emerson, Spokane ENTs administrator.

Although the new clinic will have slightly less space than the specialty practices current North Side space, Emerson says it will be more efficient space, more patient friendly. Also, three physicians will be able to work there simultaneously, compared with two at the clinics current location, he says.

The new clinic will have exam rooms and other clinic-related space, and will provide services there ranging from speech therapy to hearing tests, Emerson says. He also says that one of Spokane ENTs affiliated Columbia Hearing Centers offices will occupy space in the building.

Probably 13 or 14 people will be employed at the new clinic initially, he says, but adds, Were looking, once we get established up there, to grow in that area.

Spokane ENT employs about 90 people, including 12 doctors, and is seeking to recruit additional doctors, he says.
