Providence to expand pediatrics in Spokane Valley

Services to be combined with adolescent care

  • Print Article

In response to an increase in demand for pediatric services, Providence Health & Services says it’s relocating its pediatrics practice in Spokane Valley.

Providence Pediatrics, located within the Providence Medical Park complex at 16528 E. Desmet, will move into 5,800 square feet of space from smaller quarters within the building.

The clinic will move in mid-December, says Providence Health Care spokeswoman Beth Hegde.

A Spokane Valley city permit application lists the cost of the remodel for the pediatric clinic at $1 million.

“This is in the existing Providence Medical Park; it’s not new construction,” says Hegde, who adds that Providence owns the building.

Providence Pediatrics offers care for patients ranging in age from newborn to 18 years old.

Services include well child checkups, general medicine,     immunizations, care for children with special needs, consultations for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and behavioral health assessments.

The clinic also has a pediatric nurse onsite to answer immediate questions.

Providence will move adolescence physician Dr. Ponrat Pakpreo into the pediatrics clinic.

Providence’s adolescent medicine focuses on care for teenage populations experiencing eating disorders, anxiety, and emotional health, including depression.

Altogether, pediatric and adolescent services will have a staff of 11 caregivers, Hegde says.

Construction of the $58 million medical park began in 2012, and the 127,000-square-foot facility opened in spring 2014.
