Costco Wholesale Corp. is planning a $2.7 million expansion of its Coeur d'Alene outlet to bring the store's total size to 152,000 square feet of floor space, according to building-permit information on file with the city of Coeur d'Alene.
The big Issaquah, Wash.-based membership warehouse chain has obtained a building permit for a 15,000-square-foot addition to its outlet at 355 E. Neider, near U.S. 95 in north Coeur d'Alene, city records show.
A Costco representative couldn't be reached for comment.
The addition, which will be on the north end of the Coeur d'Alene Costco building, will include an expansion of the refrigerated-products area of the store, records show.
Ferguson Construction Inc., of Seattle, is the contractor on the project, and MulvannyG2 Architecture Corp., of Bellevue, designed it. Ferguson built the 137,000-square-foot Coeur d'Alene Costco store, which opened in 2004.
Costco has two Spokane-area outlets. One is a 137,000-square-foot North Side facility that opened in 1992 at 7916 N. Division. The other is a 148,000-square-foot Spokane Valley outlet that opened in 2001 at 5601 E. Sprague and replaced Costco's former 130,000-square-foot store east of downtown.
