Coeur d’Alene-based Tree Medic Tree Care Services LLC has acquired Coeur d’Alene-based Specialty Tree Services Inc. and its subsidiary, Tree Removal Services.

Specialty Tree Services and Tree Removal Services will operate as subsidiaries of Tree Medic says Ryan Wichman, owner of Tree Medic.

Wichman says that he and former owner of Specialty Tree Services Ken Roberge have a longstanding business relationship.

“We’ve collaborated on lots of different projects for a lot of years,” Wichman says. “He was looking to retire. Tree Medic, at the same time, was needing to expand. As he got serious about retirement it seemed like the logical direction to go for both of us.” 

Wichman says the combined company has eight employees, including himself. He says he’s looking to hire additional qualified employees.

“It’s growing by the minute, it seems like,” Wichman says of Tree Medic. “People who know me know that I’ve always been a small business and this is a substantial expansion for me.”

He declines to discuss terms of the transaction and the projected annual revenue for the company.

Tree Medic, located at 3901 W. Industrial Loop, has been providing residential and commercial tree services to the North Idaho area for 25 years. According to Tree Medic’s website, the company specializes in tree and shrub care, including tree planting, pruning, removal, stump grinding, and disease and pest prevention and control. Wichman is a certified arborist through the International Society of Arboriculture. 

Specialty Tree Services has been based in Coeur d’Alene for 40 years.
