Kevin McCathren, president of Spokane-based McCathren Management & Real Estate Services Inc., has acquired 8.2 acres of land at the site of the former Quad Park softball facility in Post Falls and plans to develop an apartment complex there, according to a real estate transaction notice regarding the purchase.
McCathren couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.
Commercial real estate brokers, Wayne Burton, Craig Hunter, and Rob Kannapien, all of Coeur d’Alene-based Coldwell Banker Commercial Schneidmiller Realty, represented Fasanos Post Falls LLC, of Portland, which is the seller in the transaction. McCathren acted as his own agent in the acquisition.
Terms of the transaction weren’t disclosed. The Kootenai County Assessor’s Office has appraised the 2017 taxable value of the property at $845,600.
McCathren Management provides property-management services for multifamily developments, condominium associations, and commercial properties throughout the Inland Northwest.
The site is located at the southeast corner of 12th Avenue and Cecil Road, in north Post Falls.
The city of Post Falls in late 2015 approved the property for multifamily use following a zone-change request by Fasanos Post Falls.
The land-use designation allows up to 18 units per acre.
Before the zone change, the property was designated for limited commercial use.
Nearby land uses include a mix of residential and commercial developments.
Quad Park closed in 2005 after it had operated more than 20 years as a four-field ballpark. The property has changed hands at least three times since its original owners sold it that year.
