Goodale & Barbieri Co., a prominent Spokane-based commercial real estate brokerage, has assumed property management responsibilities for the historic, 104-year-old Altadena apartments and plans to restore and improve certain areas of the lower South Hill building, says Kim Conway, the company’s residential department manager.
Altadena Apartments, at 608 S. Stevens, has 43 units ranging in size from studio to three bedrooms. Monthly rents range from $375 to $800.
Goodale & Barbieri has begun some minor renovations of common areas and updates to units with the goal of restoring and maintaining the building’s antique details, she says.
“New light fixtures are in, and carpet is ordered,” Conway says of the common areas.
Some of the units are getting new paint she says, adding, “We want to keep the character and look of the building.”
The structure is an example of neoclassical revival architecture and was the largest apartment building in Spokane when it opened, Conway says. Arthur W. Cowley designed the Altadena building, and Isaac J. Galbraith erected it, she says.
Christina Sceva Trust #2 owns the apartment building, Spokane County Assessor’s records show. The trust is named for the wife of the late Spokane contractor Paul Sceva Jr.
