Vandervert lands tenants for three properties here

Sports bar, insurance agency, and fitness center lease commercial space

May 6, 2010

Vandervert Developments LLC, of Spokane, has secured three new tenants for commercial properties it owns here, in the Wandermere area, on the West Plains, and in Cheney. The tenants include a new sports bar, an insurance company branch office, and a fitness center.

Dan and Anne Birdwell recently opened Birdy's Sports Bar, at 12908 N. U.S. 395, leasing a 2,100-square-foot space near an Ace Hardware store, says Jason Strain, a property manager for Vandervert Developments. In addition, the sports bar has an outdoor seating area of about 1,500 square feet, Strain says.

Anne Birdwell says the couple decided to open such an establishment at Wandermere Village after visiting a sports bar in Las Vegas that had a higher-quality restaurant feel to it.

"We thought it would be a cool sports bar, and it's a place I would want to go," she says.

The business has seating for 80 patrons inside, and can seat up to 50 on the partially-covered patio. The Birdwells are employing about a dozen people there, mostly part time, Birdwell says.

At Vandervert's Crosspointe Plaza, at 10408 W. U.S. 2 on the West Plains, company Associated Agency Group LLC, which does business as AAG Insurance and has a corporate office in Kennewick, Wash., has leased about 2,400 square feet of space. It will occupy a space formerly used by AmericanWest Bank. AAG has 10 offices in Washington state, including in Kennewick, Pullman, Colfax, Rockford, Davenport, Chehalis, Wilbur, Spokane Valley, Cheney, and the new West Plains location.

Meanwhile, at the Cheney Plaza, in Cheney, Jeff Spencer, of Spokane, plans to open a new Snap Fitness location in a 3,000-square-foot space. Cheney Plaza is located at 2710 First Street, in Cheney.

Spencer operates three other Snap Fitness locations in Spokane and Spokane Valley. The chain's corporate headquarters is located in Chanhassen, Minn. The Cheney location is expected to open at the beginning of June, Strain says.
