Trading Co. Stores starts $1.5 million remodel of Spokane Valley location

December 10, 2009
Jeanne Gustafson

Spokane-based Trading Co. Stores has begun a $1.5 million project to remodel the interior of its Spokane Valley supermarket.

Gary Morgan, vice president of Trading Co. Stores, says the company is undertaking a complete remodel of the store, located at 13014 E. Sprague, at the southwest corner of Sprague Avenue and McDonald Road.

The project contractor, Contractors Northwest Inc., of Coeur d'Alene, is gutting a space in the store formerly occupied by a Global Credit Union branch, which recently was consolidated with another Global Credit Union branch nearby on Sullivan Road. Soon, Contractors Northwest will begin constructing a video rental area in the area where the credit union branch was. It also will install new fixtures, flooring, and wall coverings throughout the store, Morgan says.

He says the store will have a "complete new decor package from floor to ceiling."

Morgan says he isn't sure exactly when the work will be done, but contractors will begin installing the new features in the next few weeks.

Trading Co. Stores here is a member of Spokane-based URM Stores Inc. It has five outlets in Spokane, Spokane Valley, Cheney, Post Falls, and Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
