Red Diamond lands two city contracts

April 9, 2009
Jeanne Gustafson

Red Diamond Construction Inc., of Spokane Valley, has been awarded two city of Spokane contracts, worth a total of about $500,000, for work in northwest Spokane.

One of those projects, which entails replacing the traffic signals at the intersection of Wellesley Avenue and Belt Street to add a left turn signal, is scheduled to begin April 13 and to take about 35 working days, says city spokeswoman Ann Deasy. Red Diamond's bid on that contract was $411,000.

Belt might be closed at times during the project, resulting in traffic detours onto Alberta and Rowan streets. Wellesley is expected to remain open throughout the project, but will be reduced to one lane in each direction at times, Deasy says.

Red Diamond also has been awarded a contract by the city to install an eight-inch sewer line beneath Carlisle Avenue between Ash and Oak streets, and beneath Oak between Carlisle and an alley there. That $99,000 project also is expected to begin April 13, Deasy says.
