Home décor retail store opens in Airway Heights

Owners also move their specialty landscaping business to new location

April 9, 2009
David Cole

Monte and Kelly Tareski, who own Innovative Landscape Design LLC here, have developed a structure in Airway Heights to house the company's specialty landscape business and a new retail store it is launching to sell garden stone dcor, home dcor, and other items.

The new, 4,300-square-foot building is located at 1515 S. Lyons, west of Hayford Road and south of U.S. 2. The retail store, called GardenStone Creations, occupies about 2,000 square feet of the building, while the company's landscaping business, Cascading Creations, occupies the remainder of the structure. The couple had been running Cascading Creations, which provides landscaping, sells landscaping materials, and specializes in building water features and retaining walls, out of their home in the Nine Mile Falls area, Monte Tareski says.

The couple say they expect the retail store to boost revenue for Innovative Landscape Design, especially during the slower winter season. The store offers stone engraving and garden stone dcor, and also sells kitchen wares, a variety of home dcor, and some locally produced art such as carved bear statues, says Kelly Tareski.

She says the new building cost about $180,000 to construct, including the cost of completing the interior finish work. Stimson Contracting Inc., of Airway Heights, constructed the pole building, and the finish work was completed by the owners, they say.

They began operating at the new location a month ago, Monte Tareski says.

The two businesses employ the couple and Kelly Tareski's three sons.
