Journal of Business announces its 2021 Rising Stars

Young professionals will be recognized at in-person event in early September

July 15, 2021
Staff Report

The Journal of Business has selected 10 Spokane-area young professionals as its 2021 class of Rising Stars.

Those future leaders will be honored on Sept. 8 at an in-person event at the McGinnity Room, at 116 W. Pacific, downtown.

This year’s honorees include five women and five men, all of whom are under 40 years old and work in the Inland Northwest.

Women in this year’s class are Allison Cubberley, training program manager at Associated Industries; Maayan Gordon, co-founder of Champion Empire and owner of Maayan Gordon Media; Kara Heatherly, project manager at Avista Corp.; Dr. Jessica Lundgren, physician at Providence Health Care; and Deanna Willman, associate attorney at Witherspoon Brajcich McPhee PLLC.

Men to be recognized this year are Stephen Bone, CEO of Crimson Medical Solutions; Guillermo Espinosa, director of student success, diversity, and equity at Spokane Community College; Nolan Garrett, CEO of Intrinium; John Lemus, advocacy coordinator at Atwork; and Jamie Rand, chief marketing officer at Visit Spokane.

This year’s honorees were selected by Journal newsroom staff from about 80 nominations received from readers last month.

They mark the eighth class of Rising Stars selected to be spotlighted by the Journal.
