Jeanne Gustafson

Providence Health Care, of Spokane, has named Dr. Anselmo "Mo" Nunez as chief executive of its physicians group here, Providence Physician Services Co.

Providence Physician Services employs more than 70 physicians and other practitioners and about 170 support staff members throughout the Providence Health Care system in Eastern Washington. It also provides practice management and recruitment for Providence Health Care's hospitals, including Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital and Holy Family Hospital, in Spokane; St. Joseph's Hospital, in Chewelah, Wash.; and Mount Carmel Hospital, in Colville, Wash.

"Dr. Nunez is the ideal person for this role," says Dr. Andrew Agwunobi, chief executive of Providence Health Care in Eastern Washington. "He has outstanding clinical expertise, passion for quality, mission focus, and innate leadership talents."

Most recently, Nunez was president and CEO of the Ministry Medical Group, a large multispecialty group practice in Wausau, Wis., with more than 195 physicians and 800 employees.

Nunez holds a medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine and a master's of business administration from the University of Tennessee Stokely College of Business, in Knoxville, Tenn. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is certified in vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He has served as attending surgeon at Miami Veterans Association Medical Center and at Jackson Memorial Medical Center, both in Miami.
