Staffing company opens here

February 26, 1997
Paul Read

Westaff Inc., a big Walnut Creek, Calif.-based staffing and employment services concern, has entered the Spokane-area market.

The publicly traded company has opened an office at 15320 E. Marietta thats headed by Anne Rossi, a Westaff manager who previously opened and managed a branch for the company in Carson City, Nev.

We are pleased to be joining Spokanes business community, Rossi says. Westaff provides a host of services and opportunities for our clients and temporary employees, and we are currently hiring and seeking to establish partnerships with local businesses.

The office primarily will serve clients in Spokane and Kootenai counties. When fully established, it is expected to be similar in size to the Carson City office, which has five administrative employees and typically has about 150 temporary workers placed in jobs at any given time, she says.

Rossi says that in addition to providing temporary help to clients, the Westaff office here also will focus on finding more permanent workers for employers.

Westaff has nearly 300 offices worldwide, including four others in Washington and two in Idaho. The 55-year-old company has about 15,000 clients and provides employment to about 150,000 people annually. Its 2002 revenues totaled about $515 million.
