Chubbuck, Idaho-based Idaho Central Credit Union plans to open a new branch at the site of a former Wells Fargo building on Spokane’s South Hill.

ICCU will demolish the Wells Fargo building, located at 2910 E. 30th, just east of South Regal Street, and will construct a new building, pre-development information on file with the city of Spokane shows. The project has an estimated total value of $6 million.

ICCU purchased the structure and roughly 1.2-acre site from Wells Fargo for $4.2 million in November, according to Spokane County Assessor’s records.

Laura Smith, vice president of community development for ICCU, confirms the purchase of the land in an email to the Journal, but declines to disclose any further details or a timeline for the project.

“We have loved becoming a part of the Spokane community and are always looking for convenient locations to serve our growing membership,” she says in the email.

The new South Hill building is expected to have about 5,600 square feet of floor space, according to the site plan on file with the city of Spokane. The branch also is expected to have over 40 parking spaces, a drive-thru with three banking lanes and an exit lane, and an ATM near the parking lot entrance.

Construction is planned to begin next March, according to the site plan.

ICCU will be the new building’s only tenant, the pre-development information indicates. The former Wells Fargo building previously had spaces for other tenants, including the headquarters for Spokane Lilac Festival Association, which recently moved to 901 N. Monroe, in the Monroe Court building.

Boise, Idaho-based Lombard Conrad Architects is listed as the architect on the pre-development conference application. No contractor is listed.

The new structure is expected to be ICCU’s third branch in the city of Spokane. The credit union opened its first Spokane branch last year at 41 W. Riverside, at the former Banner Bank building in downtown Spokane. Its other location is located at 9506 N. Newport Highway, on Spokane’s North Side.
