Tobler Marina acquired by Seattle Boat Co.

Hayden boat dealership will retain name, staff

November 9, 2023

Tobler Marina has been acquired by Supreme Northwest Inc., which does business as Seattle Boat Co.

The Hayden-based company will continue operating under the same name and won’t undergo any major operational changes, says Patrick Green, general manager at Tobler Marina.

Tobler Marina has a showroom located at 13400 N. Clovis Road, just west of U.S. 95, in Hayden, and has marinas at Rockford Bay, on Lake Coeur d’Alene, and on the Spokane River, in Post Falls.

Tobler Marina’s management team will remain in place, and its roughly 50 employees will retain their positions, Green says.

The parties decline to disclose the terms of the transaction.

Tobler Marina was established in 1948, and Brent and Shellie Christian had owned it for the past 30 years. Brent Christian is expected to stay with the company in an advisory capacity for about two years, Green says.

Christian says in a release, “We had been focused on succession planning for more than five years and had considered many options for the best direction and growth for the company and the team.”

Tobler Marina carries Bennington Pontoon Boats, Chaparral Boats, Duckworth Boats, Moomba Boats, Nautique Boat Co., and Supra Boats. The Hayden boat dealership also offers parts, service, canvas, upholstery, and fiberglass repair, as well as marina slips at four marinas.

Founded in 1984, Seattle Boat Co. is a full-service marine dealer with five locations in the greater Seattle area. Its business operations include new, used, and consignment boat sales; services and parts; marina slips; boat clubs; and fuel docks.

“When we first started talking with Seattle Boat Co., we quickly realized that they were the ideal successor to take over Tobler Marina,” Christian says.

Alan Bohling, CEO of Seattle Boat Co., says in the release, “We are excited to merge our operations to form a solid force in the greater Northwest and are proud and honored to be the fifth owners (of Tobler Marina) and to continue and build on their legacy.”
