Florida tech firm acquires Ednetics

Former CEO of Post Falls-based company will remain in leadership position

Ednetics Inc., a Post Falls-based company that designs, deploys, and services high-tech communication systems for the education sector, has been acquired by Tampa, Florida-based MGT.

Tiffanie Reynolds, senior vice president of marketing at MGT, says Shawn Swanby, former CEO of Ednetics, will remain in a senior executive leadership position.

The acquisition was announced on May 7 and will add 150 employees to MGT, which brings the total to 1,500 employees, says Reynolds. She declines to disclose the terms of the transaction.

Reynolds says Ednetics will remain at its current location in Post Falls, located at 971 S. Clearwater Loop.

According to a press release, Ednetics extends the national reach of the MGT technology platform to millions of K-12 students.

“By combining MGT’s strategic advisory services, management consulting, market intelligence, and technology expertise with Ednetics’ IT infrastructure expertise and managed services, these two companies offer a comprehensive, integrated solution that can drive innovation and efficiency,” says Reynolds.

Swanby emphasizes Ednetics and MGT’s shared commitment to community service and the opportunity to enhance its impact in a press release.

“From my very first conversation with MGT leaders, it was obvious that we had a shared vision with a deep commitment to serving our communities,” says Swanby. “We are extremely excited to join the MGT team and are ready to strengthen and expand the services we provide. We look forward to working together to create even greater impact with MGT.”

Founded by Swanby in 1997, Ednetics provides advanced technology services and solutions to education and public-sector communities across the western United States. Swanby also co-founded Coeur d'Alene-based fiber optics company Fatbeam Holdings LLC with Greg Green in 2010. New York City-based infrastructure-investment companies Basalt Infrastructure Partners LLC and SDC Capital Partners LLC acquired Fatbeam in March of 2023.

MGT, established in 1975, is owned by Chicago-based Vistria Group, a private-equity firm.
