Spokane-based Trending Northwest LLC is moving away from its quarterly magazines as it transitions to a digital-only subscription model.
Rising costs associated with printing factored into the decision, an announcement from the multimedia company states.
"It's time for us to fully embrace the platforms where our audience is most engaged: our website, social media channels, and podcast,” the announcement reads.
The transition also includes an updated website, which features a more robust search function to make finding content easier.
“This move allows us to bring you even more timely, dynamic, and community-driven content—while expanding our reach and impact across the region,” the announcement reads.
Trending Northwest has also announced a new licensing model that allows community storytellers to use the Trending Media brand. The goal of the new licensing model is to build a sustainable media model that celebrates local life and reaches millions of people across the U.S., the announcement states.
Trending Northwest was co-founded by Melissa Berry and Erin Peterson.
Berry and Peterson, the latter of whom was a Journal of Business 2024 Rising Star, started the Trending Northwest podcast in 2020. The podcast grew in popularity, and Trending Northwest expanded to other forms of media content.
