Portland-based Umpqua Bank plans to move its downtown Spokane branch to a main-floor storefront in the nearby Crescent Building, at 707 W. Main, according to building permit information on file with the city of Spokane.
An Umpqua spokeswoman confirmed the planned move, but couldn’t be reached for further comment.
The downtown Umpqua Bank branch currently is located in the adjacent building at 111 N. Wall, which is the longtime headquarters for the former Spokane-based Sterling Bank.
Umpqua acquired Sterling in 2014 and maintains a corporate presence in the building. It also has some back-office operations on the fifth floor of the Crescent Building.
The building permit application describes the project as tenant improvements covering 2,600 square feet of floor space.
The improvements include a partial new concrete floor, wall additions, cabinet work, a suspended ceiling, and replacement of storefront windows with modifications for an ATM and night depository, the application says.
Baker Construction & Development Inc., of Spokane, is the contractor on the project, and McCall Design Group, of San Francisco, designed it.
Umpqua operates 12 former Sterling branches in the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene area and a total of about 400 bank branches in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, California, and Nevada.
