Maverik Inc., the Salt Lake City-based convenience store and gas station chain, plans to construct three new Spokane-area outlets as soon as this summer, preliminary applications on file with the cities of Spokane and Spokane Valley show.
The Maverik outlets would be at 4337 S. Regal on Spokane’s South Hill; at 1019 E. Francis, on the North Side; and at 2415 N. Argonne Road, in Spokane Valley.
All three stores would be on property owned by Spokane developer Harlan Douglass.
Deanna Malcom, a representative of Douglass Properties, says Maverik is moving quickly with development plans, although she says she hasn’t heard whether a contractor has been selected.
Reeve & Associates Inc., of Ogden, Utah, is designing the projects.
Maverick company representatives couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.
Predevelopment applications, which begin the planning process in the cities of Spokane and Spokane Valley, show the Maverik stores would take up 5,500 square feet of interior space.
They also each would have six fueling islands with a total of 24 pumps and five underground storage tanks with a total capacity of 60,000 gallons of fuel per store.
Predevelopment applications don’t list values for the project.
A slightly smaller Maverik store and fueling station constructed in 2012 at 717 N. Evergreen Road, had a construction value of $1.1 million, Spokane Valley city records show. The contractor on that project was Ogden-based R & O Construction Co.
In the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene area, Maverik also has stores in Mead, Cheney, Coeur d’Alene, and Hayden.
The proposed Spokane Valley site, at the northeast corner of Argonne Road and Montgomery Avenue, is vacant.
The North Side site, at the northeast corner of east Francis Avenue and north Nevada Street, is occupied by a Spokane Boys Inc. plant nursery and landscape supply business, which likely would move to an adjacent vacant parcel of land, also owned by Douglass.
A portion of the South Hill property, at the northeast corner of south Regal Street and east 44th Avenue, is occupied by a Cool Beans Coffee drive-up coffee stand, which also likely would be relocated.
Maverik, which has the tagline “Adventure’s First Stop,” has more than 270 outlets in 10 Western states.
