Halme Construction moves its headquarters to West Plains

Davenport company's new base closer to jobs

February 26, 2015
Mike McLean

Halme Construction Inc., a longtime Davenport-based heavy-construction contractor, recently has moved its corporate offices to west Spokane.

The new offices occupy 4,300 square feet of leased space on the main floor of the two-story former Bank of Whitman building, at 8727 W. Highway 2, says Kevin Halme, chief financial officer of the family-owned company.

Eight employees are based at the new office location, Halme says. The company, which specializes in constructing municipal infrastructure, including water and sewer systems throughout Eastern Washington, currently has 35 employees, he says.

“Most of our work over the last four or five years has been in Spokane County,” Halme says. “The move gets us closer to projects and the labor force available in Spokane.”

Doug Byrd, a commercial broker at Byrd Real Estate Group LLC, of Spokane, negotiated the lease.

Halme Construction’s shop and maintenance facility remains in neighboring Lincoln County, nearly 10 miles north of Davenport and about 40 miles northwest of the new office location.

Halme Construction’s current projects include a $3.7 million city of Spokane combined sewer overflow control facility project in the 900 block of east Sprague Avenue.

The CSO project includes constructing a 270,000-gallon concrete basin and installing 1,100 linear feet of sewer and stormwater mains.
