Beauty chain to open store in North Idaho

July 5, 2012

ULTA Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance Inc., a Bolingbrook, Ill.-based retailer of beauty products and salon services that does business as ULTA Beauty, plans to open an outlet in Coeur d'Alene later this month.

Carolyn Sutphen, a spokeswoman with ULTA, says the 10,000-square-foot store is to be located at 450 W. Wilbur and is scheduled to open on July 27. That location most recently was occupied by a Borders Books & Music outlet that closed last year following that company's Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

Sutphen says the new ULTA outlet likely will employ around 20 people in a mix of full- and part-time positions.

ULTA also operates a store at the Northtown Square shopping center that opened in August 2009, its only other Inland Northwest outlet.

ULTA Beauty stores stock more than 500 brands of beauty, salon, and fragrance products.

The company was founded in 1990 as a discount beauty retailer and now operates more than 465 stores across the U.S.
