Spokane Valley IT company Intrinium acquires Olympia computer company

Spokane Valley-based network-security firm reports big revenue jump

February 16, 2012

Spokane Valley-based Intrinium Networks & IT Security, which provides information security and other computer network services mostly to businesses, recently acquired an Olympia, Wash.-based computer-service company.

Nolan Garrett, Intrinium's owner and CEO, says the company bought Olympia Computer Central Inc. late last year, though he declines to disclose the terms of that transaction.

Garrett says Olympia Computer Central has been renamed OCC and will remain based in the state's capital. Its client base will continue to be served by the two employees who had worked for Olympia Computer Central there, not including the owner, but will be supported by Intrinium's 10 Spokane Valley-based network-security specialists.

"OCC now will be able to offer services it wasn't able to before. It also will have more access to discounted software and hardware to offer its consumer clients," Garrett says. "Bringing Intrinium behind them to provide additional support also gives them more access to technical resources."

He says the acquisition came about because of a professional relationship he and that business's former owner established last year while they were working on the same job for a client. OCC's owner was looking to retire at the time, and acquisition discussions ensued, Garrett says.

Garrett founded Intrinium in 2007. The company, based at 505 N. Argonne, last year experienced 40 percent jump in revenue.

Garrett projects that Intrinium could see another 40 percent increase in revenue this year due to organic growth, plus an additional 30 percent to 40 percent rise as a result of the acquisition of the Olympia company's business client base.

He says that although Intrinium has occupied its current 2,700-square-foot office space for less than two years, it already has maxed out that location. He says he's looking into moving the company to a larger space, but isn't sure yet whether he'll lease or buy a property.
