Hotel owner here files Chapter 11

June 2, 2011
Chey Scott

The owner of a Days Inns Worldwide Inc.-branded hotel in downtown Spokane and two gas stations here has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in U.S. Bankruptcy Court here.

Jarman Singh Hothi, the owner of the Days Inn hotel located at 120 W. Third, has listed debts of about $3.5 million and assets of $3.4 million in a voluntary filing.

Attempts to reach Hothi and his attorney, Brett Sullivan, were unsuccessful.

Hothi operates the Days Inn hotel here under the business Hothi Hospitality LLC, the bankruptcy filings show. He also lists himself as the owner of two gas stations here, at 1527 W. Third downtown and at 11810 N. Market in Mead.

The debts owed are listed primarily as business-related, the filing shows.

In all, Hothi lists 27 creditors to which he owes about $3.3 million in secured claims and $212,000 in unsecured claims. The largest secured debt is listed as $2.3 million owed to Walla Walla, Wash.-based Banner Corp. for an unidentified real estate property. The largest unsecured claim noted in the filing is $128,000 owed to Days Inn Franchise Administration, of Parsippany, N.J.
