Greater Spokane Incorporated will host Good Morning Greater Spokane on Friday, Oct. 8, from 7:15 to 9 a.m., at the Spokane Arena Champions Room, at 720 W. Mallon. The event will include a forum with Washington state Sen. Chris Marr and his challenger in the November election, Michael Baumgartner, covering issues that impact businesses. The Spokane Chapter of the Washington State Society of Certified Public Accountants will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 13, from noon to 2 p.m., at the Spokane Club, 1002 W. Riverside. The meeting will feature Marcus Lawson and Josiah Roloff, from Global CompuSearch LLC here, presenting Computer Security: Keeping Your Company's Finances Safe in a Digital World. The Inland Northwest Chapter of the American Society of Training & Development will host a meeting and networking event on Wednesday, Oct. 20, from 11:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., at the Red Lion Templin hotel, at 414 E. Fourth, in Post Falls. The event will feature speaker and trainer Andrea Gappmayer, creator of the "Carrot Philosophy," that is designed to help businesses recognize and retain their employees. The Spokane Chapter of The American Society of Women Accountants will hold its monthly dinner meeting and continuing professional education event on Friday, Oct. 22, at The Lincoln Center, 1316 N. Lincoln. Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. with presentations to follow at 6:45 p.m. The cost is $20 for members, $25 for nonmembers, and $15 for students. Workshops & Seminars
Spokane Home Builders Association will host two workshops, titled Lien Law & Public Works and Construction Contracts, on Friday, Oct. 8. Lien Law & Public Works will take place from 8 a.m. to noon; the cost is $110 for members and $160 for non-members. Construction Contracts will take place from 1 to 4:30 p.m., and the cost is $125 for members and $175 for non-members. Both workshops will be held at the Spokane Home Builders Association offices, at 5813 E. Fourth. Registration is requested for both events. The American Advertising Federation of Spokane will host a workshop, titled Building Your Brand via Search and Social Media, on Tuesday, Oct. 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Global Credit Union Auditorium, 1520 W. Third. The event will feature Kent Lewis, of Portland-based Anvil Media, discussing elements of a successful social media marketing campaign. The National Association of Women Business Owners Inland Northwest Chapter will host The Power of One Plus-2010 NAWBO Leadership Seminar & Annual Banquet on Thursday, Oct. 14, from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Lincoln Center, 1316 N. Lincoln. Jeanette Nyden and Jill Lublin each will present at the event. Workshops and networking will take place between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m., and the banquet will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $59 for the seminar and $50 for the banquet, or $100 for both. The Spokane Chapter of The American Society of Women Accountants will hold its fall continuing education event on Wednesday, Oct. 20, from 7:30 a.m. to noon, in the second floor conference room of the Bank of America Building, at 601 W. Riverside, downtown. The workshop will include an introduction to government contracting for small- to medium-size businesses, as well as federal compliance for company accountants. Ameriprise Financial will host a workshop, titled Maximizing Your Social Security Benefits, on Thursday, Oct. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Center Place event facility, 2426 N.
