Vandervert Construction Inc., of Spokane, has been awarded a contract to build a new outlet valued at $750,000 for OCH International Inc., the Portland-based operator of the Oil Can Henry's chain of auto lube stores.
The 1,400-square-foot structure will sit on a 30,000-square-foot lot at 411 S. Thor, and Vandervert expects to start work on the project shortly, says Justin Gray, a project manager for the company. The property is on the east side of Thor, across from a Fred Meyer Stores Inc. retail outlet and is owned by Hart Family Investments LLC, which is headed by Joy Hart, a Colbert developer.
The project will be completed next fall.
The Hart Family company also owns property north of the Oil Can Henry's site, on which Vandervert has built a recently opened Car Wash Plazas Inc. facility operated by John Hanson and Barbara Chisholm and a gas station operated by Fred Meyer Stores.
The Oil Can Henry's outlet on Thor will be OCH's fifth outlet in the Spokane-Coeur d'Alene area, Gray says.
Vandervert is finishing work on one of those, an Oil Can Henry's outlet in the Sundance Plaza shopping center in the Indian Trail neighborhood.
The other outlets are located at 12108 N. Division, in the Wandermere area north of Spokane, and in Coeur d'Alene, at 1830 N. Third and 124 W. Hanley.
Oil Can Henry's offers oil changes and other fluid-system flushes. Customers have the option of remaining in their vehicles, where they can watch technicians work via a video monitor.
