Social Security offices to relocate to Iron Bridge

October 1, 2009
Mike McLean

The U.S. Social Security Administration has leased 37,000 square feet of space in the Iron Bridge complex, at 1401 E. Trent, and plans to move its two Spokane offices there, says a real estate agent involved in the lease.

The agent, Mike Livingston, of Kiemle & Hagood Co., says the agency's newly leased space includes all of the first-floor and most of the second floor of the four-story Building 3 in the complex. Ron Tarbutton, a hearing officer here with Social Security, says the agency's Office of Disability Adjudication and Review—or hearing office—will move onto the second floor, and its Spokane field office will take up the first floor.

The hearing office, currently located at 316 W. Boone, employs 42 people, Tarbutton says. The two offices will move in January, he says.

No one was available for comment at the field office, which is located at 811 E. Sprague. Tarbutton says he can't estimate the number of employees at the field office, but says all will be involved in the move.

The Iron Bridge complex, which includes three buildings and a parking structure, is located along the Spokane River north of Trent.
