Valley maker of equipment plans move

Prime Equipment Inc. says it needs more space, is headed to West Plains

June 18, 2009
David Cole

Prime Equipment Inc., a Spokane Valley business that assembles customized packaging equipment for food and pharmaceutical companies, plans to move its operations to Airway Heights because it needs more space, company owner and President Ron Kyhl says.

Prime Equipment employs four people and generates nearly $1 million per year in sales, Kyhl says. He says he doesn't plan to do any hiring as a result of the relocation.

The company plans to occupy about 7,000 square feet of space in a building at 1100 S. Garfield Road, in Airway Heights, he says. He says Prime Equipment will take possession of the new space in July.

Prime Equipment currently occupies a smaller space in a 31,000-square-foot building at 10201 E. Buckeye Lane, in Spokane Valley, Kyhl says. That building, which also is occupied by Spokane Valley label manufacturer Star Label Co., is owned by Bart and Diana Triesch, who also own Star Label, he says.

Kyhl and Bart Triesch co-founded Prime Equipment in 1986, though Triesch is no longer an owner of the business.

Kyhl says no remodeling will be necessary to move into the company's new space, although some electrical work will have to be done to accommodate some of its equipment.
