
The Inland Northwest chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America honored six construction companies here for excellence during the organization's 2008 Build Northwest Awards ceremony, held here Jan. 30 at the Davenport Hotel.
Companies were judged by an independent panel on criteria such as meeting the challenge of a difficult job, innovation in construction techniques or materials, excellence in client service, and community contribution.
Award winners included:
Lydig Construction Inc., for its work on the $27 million, 112,000-square-foot Mountainside Middle School, at 4717 E. Day-Mount Spokane Drive.
Graham Construction & Management Inc., for the $1.4 million Heyburn State Park Welcome Center, near Lake Chatcolet, south of Coeur d'Alene.
Garco Construction Inc., for the $40 million digester project at the city of Spokane's wastewater treatment plant.
Westway Construction Inc., for its $520,000 worth of repairs to Deep Creek Bridge, located on U.S. 2 east of Airway Heights.
Clearwater Construction & Management LLC, for its work as a subcontractor on the nearly $4 million BNSF Railway Co. tunnel project, which runs beneath the North-South Corridor.
Burton Construction Inc., for its $470,000 worth of improvements at five separate sites along the Sherman Pass Byway, which encompasses a 35-mile stretch of state Route 20 between Kettle Falls and Republic, Wash.
