$7.2 million self-storage facility set

Spokane Valley project to include 15 structures at former cinema site

February 26, 1997
Mike McLean

The city of Spokane Valley has issued building permits for 15 metal buildings, together worth about $7.2 million, to Spokane developer Lanzce Douglass, who plans to construct a self-storage complex at the former site of the East Sprague Cinemas, city records show.

Douglass, through a company called Secure-It Self Storage on Sprague LLC, plans to build the complex on 6.2 acres of land located at 11018 E. Sprague, a site plan on file with the city shows. The site includes a 23,000-square-foot building that once housed the cinema, and that building will be used for self-storage, records show.

Douglass couldnt be reached for comment.

The metal buildings will range in size from 3,400 square feet to 10,500 square feet, for a total of about 96,600 square feet, and, including the former cinema building, will house a total of 569 storage units, the site plan shows. One of the buildings will be attached to the cinema building, and one of the new metal buildings will include office space.

Douglass is listed as the contractor, and Cameron & Associates Inc., of Colbert, is the land-use consultant.

Another Douglass company, Secure-It in Cheney LLC, is developing a $3 million self-storage project just outside of Cheney. That projectincludes six storage buildings with a total of 60,000 square feet of space.
