MacyÂ’s plans expansion at its CdÂ’A store

February 26, 1997
Mike McLean

Macys Inc., the big New York-based retailer, plans to remodel its Macys department store at the Silver Lake Mall in north Coeur dAlene, where it will add nearly 8,000 square feet of retail space to its 44,000-square-foot outlet.

For the expansion, Macys will take space in the mall previously occupied by a Maurices Inc. clothing store. Macys will use the new space for its junior womens and young mens shops, says Kimberly Reason, a Seattle-based spokeswoman for the retail giant.

The remodel will include new flooring, lighting, and wall finishes. It also will enable the store to expand its selection of accessories, womens apparel, shoes, and childrens clothing in its main section, says store manager Erin Miller.

The project is expected to be completed in July. Reason declines to disclose the name of the contractor. Jerry Shogan Architect, of Colbert, designed the project.

Macys Inc. operates more than 800 retail outlets in the U.S. The companys Northwest division, which is based in Seattle, operates 67 stores in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, and Utah, including three outlets in the Spokane area and the one in Coeur dAlene.
