Inland Northwest Metallurgical Services Inc., of Spokane Valley, plans to have a new building erected behind its current location to accommodate its growth.


The company, which heat-treats metal for manufacturers, is located in an 11,500-square-foot structure at 16203 E. Marietta that it leases from Seattle-based Ederer Properties II, says Dan Tabish, the companys president.


Ederer Properties plans to build a 19,000-square-foot building just north of that structure that will face Euclid Avenue, Tabish says.


Inland Northwest Metallurgical Services will lease about 7,000 square feet of space in the new building, and Ederer Properties will lease out the rest of the space to one or two more tenants, he says.


Inland Northwest Metallurgical Services space in the new structure will enable it to expand its operations, and it will continue to use its current space, Tabish says.


The company plans to buy one new piece of equipment for its new space initially, and the extra space will allow it to expand its capabilities to include different kinds of heat-treating processes in the future, he says.


Construction is expected to start as soon as Ederer Properties can obtain a building permit from the city of Spokane Valley and will take up to nine months to complete, Tabish says.


Haskins Co., of Spokane, is the contractor and also did the design work. Tabish declines to disclose an estimated cost of the project.


Inland Northwest Metallurgical Services, which opened its doors here in 1996, employs 12 people and is looking at possibly hiring more once it moves into its expansion area, he says.
