A new long-term care pharmacy, ReliantRX LLC, has opened east of downtown and offers mobile, same-day delivery of drugs and medical supplies, as well as health screenings and immunizations.


ReliantRx, which has been an off-campus client of Sirti, the state economic-development organization here, targets its services at assisted-living facilities, adult family homes, end-of-life patients, HIV/AIDS patients, and diabetic patients, among others, says CEO Tammy Kroetch. The startup, which employs 11 people and is looking to hire three more, is located in a 7,000-square-foot leased building, at 125 S. Cowley, that formerly was occupied by U-District Physical Therapy.


ReliantRx fills and delivers orders for prescription and over-the-counter drugs, and is developing Web-based software through which clients can order drugs online, communicate with a pharmacist, access medical records and billing information, and perform other tasks, she says. The company expects to have that software up and running early next year.


ReliantRx also offers mobile vaccinations and screenings for hypertension, bone density, diabetes, stroke or heart-disease risks, and cholesterol, she says. Additionally, the company plans to offer by the end of this year on-site anticoagulation therapy management, so that pharmacists can check patients blood thickness levels and adjust medications accordingly on site, she says. Diabetes and nutrition assessments and education also are available, she says.


Spokane is growing, and we see a need with some patients who are struggling to get to their doctor for appointments to have interaction with their pharmacists, Kroetch says.


ReliantRx also sells health-care supplies and medical equipment, she says.


Kroetch, who owns the company with her husband, Mike, has 10 years of experience as director of operations of a large pharmacy in the Spokane market, which she declines to name. Mike Kroetch has 17 years of experience in transportation and logistics management, she says.
